Dear Parents and Students:

Welcome to Boiling Springs Intermediate School!  As your new principal, I would like to introduce myself.  I have had the privilege to work in District Two schools for 12 years.  I feel my experiences in elementary and Intermediate School have prepared me for the position at BSIS.  Prior to becoming an administrator, I taught 7th grade reading and English for three years at Hillcrest Intermediate School in Greenville County.  I then taught 7th grade reading and English at Dawkins Intermediate School in Spartanburg County School District Six for four years.  Nine years ago, I was given the opportunity to come to work in School District Two.  I served as administrative assistant for several years before becoming the assistant principal at Boiling Springs Elementary School.  I spent eight wonderful years at Boiling Springs Elementary School before moving to Chesnee Middle, where I served as the assistant principal for one year.

I know as students and parents you look to new experiences in new schools with hope, anticipation and a little fear.  We will continue the mission of Boiling Springs Intermediate School to help students prepare for their future in a helpful, challenging and safe environment.  In developing an active partnership with the feeder schools, parents and community, BSIS will provide each student with the highest quality education by providing meaningful educational experiences and a challenging curriculum in a safe environment.  Our curriculum and instructional programs benefit from an emphasis on active student learning, strong teacher leadership, active parental support, and community support and involvement.

In 2006-2007, Boiling Springs Intermediate School will continue to strive to meet the needs of our students from various feeder schools throughout the year.  Although students enter BSIS from diverse elementary schools, we will work diligently to unite the students as one.  Quality instruction by a compassionate, dedicated and responsible faculty and staff support our mission and goal of always doing what is best for children.

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I invite you to take an active role in your child’s education.  I sincerely appreciate your support and look forward to working with you and your children during the 2006-2007 school year.  Our hope is to make your child’s 5th and6th grade years the most positive and successful in his/her educational career.

Sincerely,

Tammy G. Greer
